The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Premier University organized a specialized workshop titled “Computer Science and Engineering Education under OBE Framework” on Saturday, under its Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities aiming to strengthen academic practices through outcome-driven education.
The session, held at the university’s CSE department premises, began at 10:00 a.m. and brought together faculty members and academic stakeholders to explore the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in engineering programs.
The workshop was conducted by Dr. Shahid Md. Asif Iqbal, Professor of CSE and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, who provided in-depth insights into aligning curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and assessment systems with internationally recognized OBE standards.
Key topics included redefining the department’s vision, mission, and objectives and integrating them into teaching; redesigning the curriculum based on OBE principles and Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework domains; developing SMART Course Outcomes (COs) and remapping them with Program Outcomes (POs); ensuring constructive realignment of teaching-learning and assessment strategies; developing assessment rubrics; quantifying student performance through systematic attainment processes from the feedback of the stakeholders and information sources.
The initiative reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing academic quality and ensuring that graduates meet global engineering competencies. It also provided a collaborative platform for continuous improvement in teaching and learning practices under the OBE framework.
Academic participants noted that such initiatives play a vital role in modernizing engineering education in Chattogram and aligning it with international standards.
