Orientation Program of the 37th Batch of EEE Department Held at Premier University.
The orientation program for the 37th batch of new students of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Premier University was recently held at the university’s Hazari Lane campus. The honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor S. M. Nasrul Qadir, was present as the Chief Guest. The program was presided over by the Chairman of the department, Tuton Chandra Mallik. Special Guests included Professor Dr. Shaheed Mohammad Asif Iqbal, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Professor Dr. Mihir Kumar Roy, Senior Faculty of the Faculty of Engineering; Mr. Mohammad Solaiman Chowdhury, Proctor of the university; Tanvi Dhoom, Member of the Anti-Eve Teasing Committee; and Mr. Mohammad Kawsar Alam, Librarian.
The event was conducted by Associate Professor Mohammad Saifuddin Munna. In his speech as Chief Guest, the Vice-Chancellor Professor S. M. Nasrul Qadir welcomed the newcomers and said that, along with higher education, students must shape themselves into engineers enriched with technology, ethics, and human values. He emphasized regular class attendance, stating that simply sitting in class is not enough — students must understand the lessons well from their teachers, prepare their own class notes, and use them in their studies. He added that by building a strong foundation from the very beginning of university life, students would be able to achieve success in their professional careers in the future.
Professor Dr. Shaheed Mohammad Asif Iqbal, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, remarked that engineering education is not only about theoretical knowledge but also about mastering its practical applications.
Department Chairman Tuton Chandra Mallik said that their goal is to prepare students as world-class engineers through quality education and advanced research.
Proctor Mr. Mohammad Solaiman Chowdhury said that an engineer must grow not only in technical knowledge but also as a responsible citizen.
Other speakers included Associate Professor Tania Noor of the Mathematics Department; Assistant Professor Samina Alam of the EEE Department; Lecturers Sarit Dhar, Asif Mohammad Siddiqi, Rahul Chowdhury, Soumen Dutta, Abir Dhar, and Zaynab Binte Ahmed. Additionally, speeches were given by Indrajit Barua, President of the Robotics Club; Ismail Hossain Tanmoy, President of the Debate Club; and Sushmoy Barua, General Secretary of the IEEE Student Branch.
At the end of the program, students were briefed about various co-curricular activities.
